Last updated: 11/10/09 10:48 PM

HOLIDAY RUNNER (Meadowlake), whose daughter Seventh Street (Street Cry [Ire])

became a multiple Grade 1 winner this year with scores in the Apple Blossom H.

(G1) and Go for Wand H. (G1), attracted a final bid of $2,150,000 from Summer

Wind Farm Tuesday night at the Fasig-Tipton November Selected Mixed Sale, held

at the Newtown Paddocks near Lexington, Kentucky. Offered as Hip No. 96, the

nine-year-old mare was offered in foal to Tiznow, on a February 20 cover, by

Baccari Bloodstock, agent.

Winner of the Three Chimneys Juvenile S. and Fashion S. in 2002, the Grade

2-placed Holiday Runner's first foal was Seventh Street, who also placed this

season in the Ogden Phipps H. (G1) and Ruffian H. (G1). The sales topper is also the dam of

Reynaldothewizard (Speightstown), who placed in the 2008 Saratoga Special S.

(G2), and the unraced juvenile filly American Story (Ghostzapper).

PRIVATE FEELING (Belong to Me), whose sons Lookin at Lucky (Smart Strike) and

Kensei (Mr. Greeley) became major winners this season, was the session's second-highest

offering when bringing $2 million from Live Oak Stud. The 10-year-old, consigned

by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, as Hip 146, was purchased in foal to Mr.

Greeley on a March 6 cover.

A half-sister to Grade 3 winner Grand Charmer (Clever Trick), the granddam of

2006 champion three-year-old filly Wait a While (Maria's Mon), Private Feeling

was represented this year by Lookin at Lucky, who took the Del Mar Futurity (G1)

and Norfolk S. (G1) and was a close second in the last Saturday's Breeders' Cup

Juvenile (G1). The Bob Baffert-trained colt is an early favorite for the 2010

Kentucky Derby (G1). Private Feeling's three-year-old son Kensei was victorious in the Dwyer S. (G2)

and Jim Dandy S. (G2) over the summer.

The dam of a weanling colt by Afleet Alex, Private Feeling counts as her

second dam the Grade 1 winner Sharp Belle (Native Charger) and is from the

family of 1987 Irish Derby (Ire-G1) winner Sir Harry Lewis (Alleged)

MAGICAL FANTASY (Diesis [GB]), who added victories in the Gamely S. (G1),

John C. Mabee S. (G1) and Yellow Ribbon S. (G1) this year to a scorecard that

included the 2008 Del Mar Oaks (G1), brought a final bid of $1.8 million from

Shadai Farm. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, the four-year-old filly was

offered by Eaton Sales, agent, as Hip 120.

Fifth in last Friday's Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1), Magical Fantasy

has compiled a record of 18-6-4-0, $1,099,258. A half-sister to English stakes

winner Forward Move (Ire) (Dr. Fong), Magical Fantasy was produced from a

half-sister to Group 1 winner Keen Hunter and Grade 2 winner Altibr, both by

Diesis (GB).

Katsumi Yoshida, who earlier in the day purchased 2002 Horse of the Year

Azeri for $2.25 million at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, privately

purchased GINGER PUNCH (Awesome Again) for $1.6 million after the 2007 champion

older mare failed to meet her reserve after initially going through the ring.

The six-year-old was consigned by Adena Springs and offered as Hip 90 while in

foal to Bernardini on an April 22 cover.

Ginger Punch, who bankrolled more than $3 million from a line of 22-12-6-2,

captured the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1), Ruffian H. and Go for Wand H. during

her championship season, and captured three other Grade 1 events. She was

produced from Grade 2 winner Nappelon (Bold Revenue)

LADY JOANNE (Orientate), whose signature win came in the 2007 Alabama S. (G1), also sold for $1.6 million to Masatake Iida, D.V.M. From the consignment of

Adena Springs, the five-year-old sported Hip 109 and was sold in foal to Tiznow

on a May 6 cover.

Produced by the stakes-placed Oatsee (Unbridled), Lady Joanne is a

half-sister to the multiple Grade 3 winner Baghdaria (Royal Academy) and is from

the family of multiple Grade 1 winner and producer Tappiano (Fappiano). She has

also produced a weanling filly by Mr. Greeley.

Retired with a record of 11-6-2-2, $987,094, Lady Joanne was purchased by

Adena Springs for $1.25 million at the 2008 Keeneland November Breeding Stock

Sale.

BLACK MAMBA (NZ) (Black Minnaloushe), whose five stakes victories include a

win in the 2008 John C. Mabee H. and two editions of the Beverly Hills H. (G2),

was sold for $1.5 million to Evergreen Stables Farm. Consigned by Taylor Made

Sales Agency, agent, Hip 56 was offered as a racing/broodmare prospect.

Produced by the New Zealand Group 3 winner Sneetch (Grosvenor), Black Mamba

is a half-sister to the dam of Australian Group 1 winner Roman Emperor (Montjeu

[Ire]) and New Zealand Group 2 winner Rios (Hussonet) and is from the family of

Australian Group 1 winner Tully Thunder (Thunder Gulch).

Campaigned by Doublddown Stable and trained by John Sadler in North America,

Black Mamba has compiled a record of 30-7-7-4, $980,763. Third in three straight

editions of the Yellow Ribbon S., Black Mamba most recently captured the October

25 Dowager S. over 1 1/2 miles on turf at Keeneland.

The sale's other seven-figure offering was ALWAYS AWESOME (Awesome Again), a

stakes-placed half-sister to German Group 1 winner Anzillero (Law Society), who

fetched $1 million from Jack Werk, agent for Charles Fipke. The nine-year-old

mare, consigned by Adena Springs, toured the ring as Hip 46 and is in foal to

Medaglia d'Oro on a March 23 cover.

Always Awesome, who has also produced the unraced juvenile El Cubano (El

Prado [Ire]) and a yearling filly by Street Cry (Ire), counts as her second dam

Allegretta (GB) (Lombard), who produced 1993 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1)

winner and blue hen Urban Sea (Miswaki), who in turn produced this year's

European superstar Sea the Stars (Cape Cross [Ire]), European champion Galileo

(Ire) (Sadler's Wells), highweights Urban Ocean (Bering [GB]) and Black Sam Bellamy

(Sadler's Wells), as well as Grade 1 winner My Typhoon (Ire) (Giant's Causeway).

This is also the family of English classic winner King's Best (Kingmambo) and

French Group 1 winners Anabaa Blue (Anabaa) and Tamayuz (Nayef).

Prominent mares who failed to meet their reserve included multiple Grade 1

winner HONEY RYDER (Lasting Approval), in foal to Giant's Causeway, who went

unsold for $1,250,000; ABOVE PERFECTION (In Excess [Ire]), the dam of this

year's Spinaway S. (G1) winner Hot Dixie Chick (Dixie Union), who was bought

back for $1,150,000; and this year's Just a Game S. (G1) and First Lady S. (G1)

winner DIAMONDRELLA (GB) (Rock of Gibraltar [Ire]), who left the ring at $1 million.

Buoyed in part last year by the sale of Broodmare of the Year Better Than

Honour (Deputy Minister) for $14 million, business expectedly was off at the

one-night sale. On Tuesday, 78 head sold for $28,505,000, a decline of 59.4

percent from a year ago when $70,279,000 was realized from the sale of 91

horses. The average plummeted 52.7 percent, from $772,297 to $365,449, while the

median was off 32 percent, from $250,000 to $170,000.
