Trainer Freddie Head told PA Sport that it is "50-50" whether two-time

Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) heroine GOLDIKOVA (Ire) (Anabaa) would continue to race

next season as a five-year-old.

Goldikova overcame an unfavorably wide draw, breaking widest of all from post

11, to defend her Mile crown Saturday at Santa Anita. The Wertheimer and Frere

homebred rallied from far back to get up by a half-length, rattling off the

firm-turf feature in a blistering 1:32 1/5.

"It was a fantastic performance and she is really something," Head said. "The

way she made up the ground was unbelievable, and she seems to have come out of

the race well, although she has not returned home yet.

"I think she will be home this evening and for the moment, talks about the

future are on hold.

"I would say we'll decide in the next few weeks, but it's a 50-50 choice

whether she stays in training or not."

Goldikova has compiled a record of 15-10-2-2, $4,090,090. In addition to her

two Mile trophies, the seven-time Group/Grade 1 winner also claims victories in

the 2008 Prix du Moulin (Fr-G1), the 2009 Prix Jacques le Marois (Fr-G1) and

Falmouth S. (Eng-G1), and the past two runnings of the Prix Rothschild (Fr-G1).
