Gulfstream offering Saturday breakfast with the works

Last updated: 1/3/11 2:41 PM

Gulfstream Park has announced the launch of "Breakfast At Gulfstream," a new

tradition beginning January 8 that will allow the public to attend Saturday

morning workouts, enjoy breakfast, and meet some of the world's greatest

trainers and jockeys.

Beginning at 7 a.m. (ET), every Saturday, the public will be invited to come

to Gulfstream's state-of-the-art facility to watch the sport's best

Thoroughbreds work out while "Breakfast At Gulfstream" host Lisa Wintermote

explains what's happening, who's on the track, and welcomes special guests.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our fans to be part of a very unique

experience," said Steve Calabro, President and GM of Gulfstream Park. "Training

hours at the racetrack is a wonderful daily ritual. Our fans will be able to get

an intimate look at what takes place in the mornings while meeting many of the

sport's biggest stars.

"For the jockeys, trainers and exercise riders, it will be just as rewarding

an experience; meeting fans and welcoming visitors to the Gulfstream facility

that we are so proud to show off."

Timothy Ritvo, VP of Racing, MI Developments, and a former trainer and

jockey, said there's nothing in the world of sports like a morning at the

racetrack.

"It's a special time unlike any other in the world of sports," Ritvo said.

"There are a hundred horses galloping across the track, working out for upcoming

stakes races. And the jockeys and exercise riders aboard these horses are the

most talented athletes you can find. We're very proud to showcase the horses and

these men and women who make our game the best there is. This is something not

only for our core fans, but for families to enjoy and be part of."

Host Lisa Wintermote will provide those attending "Breakfast At Gulfstream"

with all the up-to-the-minute information while interviewing special guests from

Hall of Fame jockeys and trainers to exercise riders, blacksmiths, clockers and

outriders.

"All of us at Gulfstream Park are very excited about this new tradition and

promise it will be an incredible experience," said Wintermote, a former

assistant trainer and outrider.

The "Breakfast At Gulfstream" buffet, served at the Jameson Jockey Club, will

be $12 for adults, $7 for children under 12. Other breakfast items will also be

available.
