Half to Declan's Moon tops F-T Midlantic sale that sees
declines
Business was down across the board at Monday's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic
December Mixed Sale at Timonium, Maryland.
The one-day auction concluded with 110 horses selling for $954,800, a decline
of 37 percent over last year when 133 head sold for $1,516,700. The average
dropped 23.9 percent, from $11,404 to $8,680, while the median was off 20
percent, from $5,000 to $4,000.
Topping the leader board was DELANEYS STAR (Latent Heat), a half-sister to
2004 champion two-year-old male Declan's Moon (Malibu Moon), who was sold to
Wolver Hill Farm for $60,000. The four-year-old, carrying her first foal by
Majestic Warrior from a May 11 cover, was consigned by Bill Reightler, agent for
the Estate of A. Brice Ridgely.
Hip No. 20, who compiled a mark of 9-1-0-0, $22,880, was reared by the Grade
2-placed Vee Vee Star (Norquestor), who is herself a half-sister to
stakes-winning producer Katie's Love (Not for Love) and the stakes-winning
Sabovee (Sabona).
