Sunday’s Bowling Green (G2) at Saratoga took a gut-wrenching turn when odds-on favorite Rebel’s Romance clipped heels in midpack, and jockey Richard Mullen was catapulted onto the turf course.

Having raced just once since his Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) conquest, Godolphin shipper Rebel’s Romance hopes to use Sunday’s Bowling Green (G2) at Saratoga as a springboard to a big second half.

After a breakout performance in the Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic (G1) on Kentucky Derby Day, Up to the Mark passed another test in the $750,000 Manhattan (G1) on Belmont Day.

If not for a brief virus, Highland Chief would have contested last Saturday’s Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Aqueduct. But trainer Graham Motion’s fallback plan worked out just fine.
