A pair of unbeaten two-year-old fillies captured Breeders’ Cup Challenge races on Friday’s opener at Keeneland.

Rigney Racing’s homebred Buchu blew past the field in Friday’s Jessamine (G2) at Keeneland, giving sire Justify yet another premier contender in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

A pair of favored two-year-old fillies secured their spots in the Breeders’ Cup with front-running victories on Keeneland’s Friday opener - Wonder Wheel in the Alcibiades and Delight in the Jessamine.

Trainer Brad Cox swept last year's $200,000 Jessamine S. (G2) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) with Aunt Pearl, and will attempt to take the first half of that 2021 double on Wednesday when Turnerloose tops the 1 1/16-mile Keeneland turf feature, which is the final Breeders' Cup Challenge prep prior to next month's World Championships at Del Mar.

Keeneland's renewal of the Jessamine Stakes will see top barns seek to have one of their young fillies register a success in Wednesday's race with Breeders' Cup implications.
