Kiss Moon, I Got It All win Arlington undercard stakes

Three turf stakes were offered on the International Festival of

Racing undercard Saturday at Arlington, two divisions of the $75,000 Hatoof for

three-year-old fillies on turf and the $67,000 Straight Line for three-year-olds

on Polytrack.

Carl F. Pollard's Kiss Moon proved to be a popular winner of the second

division of the

Hatoof,

drawing away to a one-length tally as the 2-1 favorite. Second in the Grade 3

Fantasy on dirt earlier this year and a troubled third when making her turf

debut in the Grade 3 Regret two starts previously (elevated one spot via

disqualification), the Malibu Moon filly completed the about 1 1/16-mile

distance in 1:42 4/5 on the firm turf.

Robby Albarado was up on the David Vance-trained dark bay, who stalked a few

lengths back in third behind opening splits of :23 3/5 and :48 1/5. Kiss Moon

saved ground through the far turn and split rivals entering the stretch drive.

She drove to the lead about a furlong from the wire and triumphed comfortably in

the end, paying $6.20 to win in the 10-horse field.

Maria Maria, the 5-1 third choice, came running late for second, three

lengths better than third-placer Lovely Loyree. Next came Too Cool, Battlefield

Angel, La Mejor Fiesta, She's Offlee Good, Phaniebdancing, Bonita Song and

Afsana.

Kiss Moon won her first two starts, taking a maiden special weight at Turfway

Park in mid-December and an entry-level allowance at Oaklawn Park in early

February, but didn't visit the winner's circle again until Saturday, facing top

company in a couple of starts this year. She earned $42,750 for her first stakes

victory and her record now reads 9-3-1-2, $207,256.

The Kentucky-bred filly is out Grade 3-winning Kiss the Devil, a daughter of

Kris S. who is also the dam of multiple stakes winner Kiss Mine. This is the

immediate female family of Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 runner-up Nonios.

In the first division of the

Hatoof,

G. Watts Humphrey's homebred Annulment rallied from just off the pace to prove

best by a nose in a tight finish over runner-up Tempers Flair. The Victoria

Oliver-trained lass was ridden by Javier Castellano and scored as the 12-1 sixth

choice among eight rivals.

The trailer in the Arlington Oaks on turf in her most recent start, Annulment

tracked pacesetter Zubi Zubi Zu in fourth through early fractions of :25 and :50

3/5. The daughter of Broken Vow advanced into contention on the far turn and

dueled through the stretch in a four-horse skirmish before prevailing in the

final yards, stopping the teletimer in 1:44 4/5.

She returned a $26.80 win mutuel.

Tempers Flair wound up a head better than 5-2 favorite V V Goodnight in

third, with pacesetter Zubi Zubi Zu another head back in fourth. High Wire

Kitten, Fonepferesh, Colonel Joan and Share the Sugar completed the order of

finish. Ameliathenaviator and Mizzen Miss were scratched.

With the $43,650 winner's share, Annulment increased her bankroll to $109,900

from a 10-2-1-3 scorecard. The Kentucky-bred is out of the winning Fusaichi

Pegasus mare After Thought, a daughter of Grade 2 winner Let. She is a

half-sister to Grade 1 queen Centre Court and a full to Grade 3 victor Ravel.

I Got It All launched his bid leaving the far turn and struck the front in

midstretch en route to 1 3/4-length victory in the

Straight Line. Trained by Tom Swearingen, the gelded son of Tiz Wonderful

was ridden by Channing Hill.

A two-time stakes winner over Illinois-bred rivals earlier this season, I Got

It All earned his first open stakes tally while rebounding from an eighth in the

June 28 Iowa Derby. He is campaigned by Swearingen, Lo Denk, D. Carlile and R.

Bockel.

Off as the 4-1 third choice in the 10-horse field, I Got It All yielded a win

payout of $10.80 after finishing a mile in 1:37 1/5.

He rated in midpack as 5-2 favorite Good Bye Greg showed the way on a clear

lead through splits of :23 4/5 and :46. The pacesetter still led by five lengths

after three-quarters in 1:11 1/5, but he began to weaken after turning for home

and I Got It All took advantage, kicking clear in deep stretch.

Stormy Pacific rallied belatedly for second at 12-1, 1 1/4 lengths better

than Good Bye Greg. It was another 1 1/2 lengths to McQ, who was followed by

Sultry Cat, Puppy Manners, Mr Thunder Boy, Solitary Ranger, Bourbonize and

Blichton.

Bred by David Campbell, Jim Edgar and Kingswood Farm, I Got It All is out of

the winning Polish Silk, a daughter of Polish Silk who counts stakes winners

Soaring Stocks and Razor as half-siblings.

I Got It All improved his overall record to 7-4-1-0, $161,392.
