Latent Heat, Corinthian highlight Wood undercard

Last updated: 4/4/07 8:40 PM

The $300,000

Carter H. (G1) is the biggest of four stakes on Saturday's Wood

Memorial (G1) undercard at Aqueduct that has plenty of star power. LATENT HEAT

(Maria's Mon) and KEYED ENTRY (Honour and Glory) are among the top draws in the

seven-furlong Carter; the $200,000

Excelsior Breeders' Cup H. (G3) has Gulfstream Park H. (G2) winner

CORINTHIAN (Pulpit); and the

$150,000

Bay Shore

S. (G3) features an exciting pair of entries from Bobby Frankel in

LES GRAND TROIS (Officer) and IN THE WOODS (Forest Wildcat).

Latent Heat exits victories in the San Carlos H. (G2) and Malibu S. (G1) at

Santa Anita for Frankel, and the four-year-old colt relishes middle distances.

The Todd Pletcher-trained Keyed Entry established himself as one of the nation's

leading sprinters with a smashing five-length win in the Deputy Minister H. (G3)

last out at Gulfstream Park. SILVER WAGON (Wagon Limit) and AH DAY (Malibu

Moon), the respective one-two finishers in the General George Breeders' Cup H.

(G2), add further depth, and Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash S. (G1) runner-up

DIABOLICAL (Artax) is a three-time stakes winner for Steve Klesaris. WILD JAM

(Forest Wildcat), who exits a runner-up finish in the Toboggan H. (G3), rounds

out the seven-horse field.

Corinthian will face five rivals in the 1 1/8-mile Excelsior. A neck winner

in the 1 3/16-mile Gulfstream Park H. most recently, the James Jerkens-trained

colt recorded a 9 1/2-length decision over Belmont S. (G1) winner Jazil

(Seeking the Gold) when making his four-year-old debut in a nine-furlong

allowance/optional claiming event two starts back. Grade 2 hero MAGNA GRADUATE

(Honor Grades), who exits a 1 3/4-length score in the Razorback Breeders' Cup H.

(G3) for Pletcher, is a top challenger, and Grade 1 winner EVENING ATTIRE (Black

Tie Affair [Ire]) deserves a mention. The nine-year-old gelding returned to the

winner's circle with a 2 1/4-length score in the Stymie H. on March 3.

Les Grand Trois, who recently made his three-year-old debut with a one-length

allowance score at Santa Anita, and smashing maiden winner In the Woods are

coupled in the seven-furlong Bay Shore, but only one of them will be able to

make his stakes bow since David Flores is listed to ride both. WOLLASTON BAY

(Sea of Secrets) and BILL PLACE (Master Bill), the one-two finishers in the Fred

"Cappy" Capossela S., will stage a rematch in the Bay Shore, and PASS THE PUNCH

(Two Punch) will step up to face stakes rivals following an allowance score at

Philadelphia Park for Kiaran McLaughlin.

The

$75,000

Pleasant Colony S. is the first stakes race offered on Saturday, and

multiple stakes winner SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR (Successful Appeal) heads a field of

eight in the 1 3/4-mile event.
