More Than Real, Winter Memories could meet up in Lake

George

Bobby Flay's MORE THAN REAL (More Than Ready), who defeated WINTER MEMORIES

(El Prado [Ire]) in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G2),

breezed four furlongs in :51 on Thursday at Belmont Park in her first workout

since her 11th-place finish in the Coronation (Eng-G1) at Royal Ascot on June

17.

"It was nice and easy," said Jonathan Thomas, assistant to trainer Todd

Pletcher. "It was exactly what we were looking for."

More Than Real is under consideration for Saratoga's Lake George S. (G2) on

July 27, which is also expected to attract Winter Memories.

"With the way (Winter Memories) has been running, it could be a nice

rivalry," Thomas said.

Winter Memories, who is two-for-two this year after taking the Appalachian S.

(G3) at Keeneland and Belmont's Sands Point S. (G2), suffered her only career

loss from five starts in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. The Jimmy Toner trainee is

scheduled to breeze Sunday morning as she continues to prepare for the 1

1/16-mile Lake George.

Toner said he is pleased with the way the gray lass is progressing as her

three-year-old campaign continues. Following the Lake George, Toner has penciled

in the August 21 Lake Placid S. (G2) at Saratoga and the September 17 Garden

City S. (G1) at Belmont Park, all leading up to the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge

Cup (G1) at Keeneland .

"She's matured even since her last race," said Toner, who also trained the

filly's mother, Memories of Silver (Silver Hawk). "I see her getting bigger and

stronger and continuing to develop."

Sunday's breeze will be Winter Memories' fourth since the Sands Point, and

Toner hopes to get in another work before departing for Saratoga next weekend.

"I'm not sure when we're going; if we can work here on Sunday, I might do

that," he said.
