Last updated: 5/23/11 4:50 PM

Multiple Grade 2 hero SILENT NAME (Jpn) (Sunday Silence) got off the mark as

a freshman sire when Silent Sue captured Sunday's 3RD race at Hollywood Park.

After setting a hotly contested pace beneath Garrett Gomez, the Walther Solis

juvenile edged away and held on stubbornly by a half-length. Silent Sue, the 2-1

second choice, stopped the teletimer in :52 for 4 1/2 furlongs on the Cushion

Track.

Silent Name began his career in France with Criquette Head-Maarek. His

highlights included victories in the Prix de Tourgeville and Prix de

Saint-Patrick, placings in the Prix du Pin (Fr-G3), Prix de Pontarme and Prix

Herod, and a close fourth in the Prix de la Foret (Fr-G1).

Once joining Gary Mandella in the United States, Silent Name made a name for

himself in the turf mile division, landing the Arcadia H. (G2) and placing in

the Eddie Read (G1), Shoemaker Mile (G1) and Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1). He also

transitioned effectively to Polytrack to score in the Commonwealth S. (G2) at

Keeneland and ultimately retired with $663,431 in earnings from his 23-6-2-4

line.

Silent Name is out of French Group 3 victress Danzigaway (Danehill), a

half-sister to Group 2-winning French highweight miler and sire Gold Away (Ire)

(Goldneyev) as well as French Group 3 heroine Blushing Gleam (GB) (Carerleon),

the dam of English Group 1-placed Skanky Biscuit (Peintre Celebre). Danzigaway

has herself produced French Group 1-placed Salto (Pivotal) and the stakes-placed

Madaway (Machiavellian).

The nine-year-old Silent Name stands under the aegis of Adena Springs at

McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds near Saratoga Springs, New York, for $5,000,

live foal stands and nurses.
