Tattersalls July opens Tuesday

Last updated: 7/9/07 7:42 PM

Tattersalls' biggest-ever July Sale begins in

Newmarket on Tuesday with a total of 930 lots cataloged over the next four days. Tuesday's

session features

nearly 300 fillies and mares, including sizeable drafts from the likes of Darley,

Cheveley Park

Stud, Shadwell, the National Stud, and Juddmonte.

Darley's mares include Lot No. 82,

the

14-year-old PAPERING (Shaadi), winner of the Premio Lydia Tesio (Ity-G2) and the

dam of a

listed winner, while Lot 243, the three-year-old PENICUIK (Hernando [Fr]),

is a half-sister

to dual Grade 1 winner White Heart (GB) (Green Desert) from the family of

American champion

Tempera.

TENABLE (Polish Precedent), a half-sister to Group 3 winner Day Flight

(Sadler's Wells), is offered as Lot 141 from the National Stud, as she was when

making 85,000 guineas at

Tattersalls in December.

Those offered by Bill Dwan's Castlebridge Consignment

include Lot

266, the unraced three-year-old EASY TO THRILL (Soviet Star), from an

outstanding Moyglare Stud family, and DIAMOND LINE (Linamix), Lot 238,

a

blue-blooded seven-year-old from a Lagardere family who sells on a cover to

Invincible Spirit.

Lot 146, SENSIBLE IDEA (Dr Fong), was unsold at 9,000gns at Tattersalls in

December, but

there should be more interest this time round after her full brother Maze won the

listed

Chesham S. at Royal Ascot and is one of the early favorites for next year's Epsom Derby

(Eng-G1).

Meanwhile, Lot 293, STEADY RAIN (Zafonic), is a half-sister to this

season's Dante S. (Eng-G2) second Raincoat (Barathea [Ire]).

Form horses include Juddmonte's homebred

MONZANTE

(Maria's Mon), Lot 462, who finished fourth in this season's Dee S. (Eng-G3) at

Chester, while Lot

511, TOPJEU (Montjeu [Ire]), is likely to appeal to jumping buyers when

appearing from

Luca Cumani's Newmarket stable. A similar comment applies to Lot 760, the Aga

Khan's

homebred RAJNAGAN (Muhtarram), winner of a Gowran Park maiden for

trainer John

Oxx. Lot 715, the three-year-old gelding AUDIT (Fusaichi Pegasus), has won

his last two

starts for Sir Michael Stoute.

Two-year-olds on offer include Lot 491, SIRJOSHUA REYNOLDS (Kyllachy), who

finished sixth in the listed Dragon S. at Sandown on Friday.

"It's amazing to

think that in

2000 turnover at the Tattersalls July Sale was a fraction over 2.5 million

guineas and, last

year, it was just above 12 million guineas," Tattersalls' Marketing Director

Jimmy George said. "The sale has been a huge success

story in recent years and this year's catalog is not only the largest ever, but looks as

strong as ever with a catalog of real quality."

The sale runs through Friday. Selling takes place all day

Tuesday, but with

racing scheduled on the remaining three days, evening sessions are slated to

begin subject to the race programs.
