In addition to the quartet of juvenile stakes at Fair Grounds, the Santa Super Saturday card offered opportunities for the older brigade as well. Chief among them was Grade 1 veteran Two Emmys.

Keeneland’s graded stakes on Saturday featured winners of contrasting profiles. While former turf champion Channel Maker captured his eight-year-old bow in the Elkhorn (G2), up-and-coming four-year-old Scalding extended his skein in the Ben Ali (G3).

Two Emmys broke running in Saturday’s $300,000 Muniz Memorial Classic (G2) at Fair Grounds, accelerating to a clear advantage a few jumps out of the starting gate, and he dictated terms on a moderate pace along the way to an easy 2 1/2-length victory.

Double-digit prices were the order of the day in the three Fair Grounds turf stakes on Saturday, as Cavalry Charge ($72.60), She Can’t Sing ($51), and Pyron ($41.40) all recorded their first stakes victories.

After the disqualification of strong favorite Just Might in the Duncan F. Kenner S., the upsets continued in Saturday’s turf stakes at Fair Grounds. Pass the Plate got up to pay $19.20 in the Marie G. Krantz Memorial, and Forty Under furnished $34.80 in a Col. E.R. Bradley S. thriller.

Along with three dirt stakes anchored by the Lecomte (G3), Fair Grounds offers a trio of $100,000 turf stakes Saturday making for a total of six on a terrific 14-race “Road to the Derby Day.”

The race formerly known as the Arlington Million witnessed one of the biggest upsets in its history Saturday, when 27-1 longshot Two Emmys denied 2-5 favorite Domestic Spending in the $600,000 Mister D. (G1).

Saturday was an action-packed day at Arlington Park. A quartet of stakes worth a combined $375,000 served as the highlights of Million Preview Day.
