Speed reigned in Santa Anita’s trio of graded races Saturday on both dirt and turf, beginning with promising sophomore Forbidden Kingdom in the $200,000 San Vicente (G2).

Kentucky shipper Shedaresthedevil added a third Grade 1 victory to her portfolio, and a free berth to the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1), in Sunday’s $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1) at Del Mar.

The only one to edge division leader Letruska this season, Shedaresthedevil is also the lone shipper in Sunday’s $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1) at Del Mar.

Father’s Day was closing day at Santa Anita, with a quartet of $100,000 stakes bringing the 2020-2021 winter/spring meet to an exciting conclusion.

On Saturday afternoon, racing fans had an opportunity to see both the present and the future of California’s filly and mare turf division in action.

Three stakes will be offered on Saturday’s Santa Anita Derby undercard, including a major qualifier for the Kentucky Oaks (G1).

On Saturday, the 5-year-old rides a three-race win streak into the $200,000 Del Mar H. (G2), which offers the winner an expenses-paid berth into the 2020 Breeders' Cup Turf at Keeneland in November.
